The Hindustan International School
The 15th edition of Chennai World Robot Olympiad India (WRO India) 2018 Regional Championships was held at Hindustan International School, Karapakkam on 11-12 August 2018. Over 48 teams from different parts of the state participated in this competition in Elementary & Junior High categories. The event witnessed high competition amongst the teams with the winning time of 38 & 93 seconds in Elementary & Junior respectively
The theme for WRO 2018 was “Food Matters” focussing on the way we grow, share and consume food. The competition was inagurated by Mr.Rajesh Raghavan- AGM Sales , South Region, Robotics Division , Yaskawa India P Ltd, Chennai. Mr.Rajesh Raghavan described that “Robotics is a game changer in many fields including education, since it provides a true interdisciplinary hands-on STEM learning environment” He motivated everyone to actively participate in the competition and offered Yaskawa’s Invitation for Industrial Visit to all children who can see how they make Robots . In the Inaguration Ceremony students of Hindustan Internation School – Guindy campus gave a performance on Robot dance which fulfilled the theme of the competition.
Winning teams will advance to the national championship to be held in Ahmedabad and then move to the international competition which will be held in Thailand scheduled on 16 – 18 November 2018.Robotics is considered as one of the best platforms to provide Hands and Minds on Education to the students of this century – bridging the gap between theoretical & practical education. 65000+ teams participate in this competition across the globe from 70+ countries.
The Workshop concluded with the Valedictory & Participation Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 12th August 2018 , presided over by the Chief Guest Dr.Srimathy Kesan – Founder, CEO – SPACE KIDZ INDIA. The function started with the welcome address by Mast.Aarash Joseph Mathew, School Captain – Hindustan International School , Padur.Speaking on the occasion, Dr..Srimathy Kesan asserted that, “We live in a world that is changing more rapidly than ever before. Children will face stream of new issues and challenges in the future. Things that they learn today will be obsolete tomorrow. To thrive, they must learn to design innovative solutions. The programme ended with a scintillating performance by the students of Hindustan International School – Padur
